November News

We hope everyone had a great October and Halloween!

We have some exciting updates and upcoming events to share with you all.

🎼

Incredible progress has been made in our studio location. From knocking down a cement wall to creating our very own stage in our recital hall, the space looks completely different from how it did originally. Below, you can click on the Studio Location Progress photo to watch a video of our progress so far.

Congratulations to our Student of the Month, Luke!

Luke turned 5 years old in August and has been studying under Anna Zimmer for 5 months. Luke has performed in one of our Middle C Music recitals and he had his first experience with auditions for the State Talented Music Program in October. Luke has learned and performed "Goodness of God" by CeCe Winans, "The Mandalorian" by Ludwig Göransson, and we are currently studying "Nuvole Bianche" by Ludovico Einaudi.

"Luke is such a fun student to have in my studio. He is always making me laugh and keeping me on my toes. Luke is my youngest student that can read music and he also has perfect pitch - the ability to identify any musical note after hearing it, without reference to other notes. We break our lessons into theory, ear training, rhythm, and repertoire which keeps Luke engaged during lessons. I'm honored to be Luke's teacher and excited to see where music will take him..."

- Anna Zimmer (Owner/Flute/Piano Instructor)

You can see Luke here on our website.

We also want to highlight our student, Paxton, who recently made it into talented music! Paxton did a phenomenal job for his testing rounds, and even scored perfectly in the first round. We are so proud of your hard work and consistency, Paxton!

Join us for the Koats for Kids Concert 2023 at Gallier Hall on Friday, November 17th!

Middle C Music is proud to have been asked to participate in this incredible event. We are excited for the opportunity to showcase two of our students during the Patron's Party. Please consider attending or donating coats. Anna Zimmer will collect all coats and donate on your behalf.

This cherished annual event not only brings together an incredible lineup of New Orleans' most beloved performers but also plays a crucial role in collecting winter coats for children in need. In addition, this year's concert promises to be exceptional as we'll be sharing exciting announcements and celebrating our remarkable 14 years of dedicated work.

The concert kicks off at 7:00pm at Gallier Hall and features an impressive lineup including Grammy Winner Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Big Chief Darryl Montana of the Yellow Pocahontas Hunters, the Koats for Kids String Quartet, Xavier University's Music Department, Make Music NOLA students, Dr. Ko, and many more talented artists.

To make this event even more special, we encourage you to bring any size or gender children's coat to contribute to our cause.

Ticket Information:

Concert only (7pm, $30)

Patron's Party with art auction (6pm, $100)

You can conveniently purchase tickets online at concert.koats4kids.com.

Do you agree that students need better guidance in music education? We do!

Check out this article from The New York Times that discusses the importance of proper music education. We aim to create a professional and enjoyable environment for students that allows them to have fun with their education and not feel immense pressure to be perfect.
