Malcoms is a professional cellist, composer, and  conductor. He collaborated with artists including Terence Blanchard, Arooj Aftab, and Béla Fleck, and has appeared on the MTV VMAs & The Tonight Show. In 2024, he was named a Conductor Fellow for the Carlos Miguel Prieto Conducting Fellowship and performed alongside Yo-yo Ma. 

Mevlan Mecid earned degrees from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London, Yale University, where he studied with Hyo Kang, and the University of North Texas, where he completed his Doctor of Musical Arts degree under the guidance of Julia Bushkova.
